WILSON WANTED BY TIGERS

Thursday February 07, 2008
SPEEDWAY legend Reg Wilson is wanted by Sheffield - just weeks after standing down as manager!

Wilson, one of the club's greatest ever riders, has made way for former England chief Eric Boocock after 17-years in the Owlerton hotseat.

But Owlerton bosses are keen to hold talks with Wilson about a new role within the club to maintain his involvement.

Neil Machin, owner of the Sheffield Window Centre-backed Tigers, said: "If you cut Reg down the middle he would be yellow and blue, the colours of this great club.

"He's dedicated almost a lifetime to Sheffield Speedway. Even when he rode for other clubs, he still had Sheffield at heart and we will be looking at ways in which we can keep him involved."

Tigers have confirmed their press and practice day for Thursday, March 6 from 3pm for the media, track action from 4pm and then a social event in the Panorama Room of Owlerton Stadium that same evening.

The first home meeting is the following week, March 13, but still the club have yet to confirm the opposition. A full fixture list for the new season should be available within the next few days.
