TIGERS HEAD TO LEICESTER ON SUNDAY

Friday August 02, 2019
SHEFFIELD head to Leicester this Sunday (4pm) for a mouthwatering Championship showdown.

Tigers currently occupy fourth place in the standings but are now facing a pivotal month of action to try and secure their spot in the play-offs.

Leicester have enjoyed a solid first season back in the second tier though and are unbeaten at the Paul Chapman and Sons Arena.

Tigers did run the Lions close on their own patch in the Championship Shield earlier in the year though and boss Simon Stead says remaining positive is going to be important for his side.

“We know the size of the task ahead of us but we’re more than capable,” Stead said.

“If all the boys ride how we know they can then we can give anyone a good run for their money.

“We’re still very hopeful of staying in that top four - but we know there’s still plenty of work left to do.”

2017 title winner Todd Kurtz will make his first appearance for the Tigers since re-signing for the club earlier this week while Justin Sedgmen makes his debut.

Ty Proctor, one of the riders released by Sheffield earlier this week, will line-up for Leicester for the first time - against his former employers.

The Championship meeting will be followed by Leicester Lion Cubs v Stoke Potters in the National League Knockout Cup Semi-Finals.

LEICESTER: Aaron Summers, Ellis Perks, Ty Proctor, Ryan Douglas, Scott Nicholls, Joe Lawlor, Connor Mountain.
SHEFFIELD: Danny King, Todd Kurtz, Drew Kemp, Justin Sedgmen, Kyle Howarth, Zaine Kennedy, Josh MacDonald.
