KURTZ REMAINS ON BOARD

Thursday November 28, 2019
SHEFFIELD Tigers can confirm the return of fans’ favourite Todd Kurtz ahead of their promotion to the Premiership.

Kurtz, who won the Championship with the club two years ago, returned to Owlerton last summer after a spell with Somerset.

And he’s done enough to be a part of their exciting new era with the Tru Plant Tigers making the rest of British Speedway sit up and take notice following a string of stunning signings.

Boss Simon Stead said: “It’s good to have Todd back and, together with Kyle Howarth, it means we have some continuity alongside the new signings.

“He always gives his all and the supporters really like him. They can see how much effort he puts in and he’s always popular with his team mates.”

Kurtz himself is delighted to be going up with Sheffield.

He said: “It’s a club I’ve had plenty of good times at over the last few years, and of course winning the league with them in 2017 was one of the highlights of my career so far.

“It’s a great opportunity for me and the rest of the team is looking great.”

Kurtz and Howarth join Jack Holder, Josh Grajczonek and Nicki Pedersen in the 2020 Tru Plant Tigers side with two more signings to be completed next week.

Meanwhile American ace Broc Nicol has left Owlerton to join Wolverhampton and the club wish him well in his new challenge.
