NICKI STAYS IN TITLE HUNT

Thursday July 09, 2020
SHEFFIELD racer Nicki Pedersen remains very much in the hunt for a second European title.

Legendary Dane Pedersen missed out in the last chance race-off of round two in Bydgoszcz after looking set to make the final by finishing second – only to be passed by fellow countryman Mikkel Michelsen and miss out.

The meeting was won by Leon Madsen who now leads the series on 26-points with three rounds to go. Pedersen carded a 10-point haul.

He said: “It was a mega hard evening with a lack of the right set-up for me.

“We felt after Heat 1 that we were behind with the set-up and just needed that bit more speed in the bike.

“I almost made it through to the final but speedway is all about fine margins and I just missed out.

“But all in all we have to get a lift again for the next round. We know where we made mistakes.

“I scored 10 points and now have to look forward to the next round which will be next Wednesday in Gniezno. In the overall position I’m joint second on 24 points so in a good position.”

Round three is next Wednesday, July 15, in Gniezno with all five rounds of the series taking place in Poland.

The winner of the series will be handed a 2021 Grand Prix spot.
