HOLDER THUMBS-UP FOR BATCH

Thursday February 11, 2021
JACK Holder has thrown his weight behind the signing of fellow Australian ace Troy Batchelor at Sheffield.

Holder, who appeared in the final two rounds of the Grand Prix series in Poland last October, was unveiled as the latest Tigers team member for the new season on Monday night after agreeing to remain with the club.

He joins Batchelor and Kyle Howarth as confirmed starters in the 2021 side with the tapes due to rise on May 6 against Belle Vue.

“Bringing Batch to Sheffield is such a good move,” he said. “Naturally I’m biased and will say it’s good to have another Aussie on the team!

“It’s a shame we lost Nicki (Pedersen) and TK (Todd Kurtz) but I’m sure we can still be a strong team once the season gets started.”

Holder admits he won’t be as busy as usual because of the Polish rule allowing him only one other league to sign up for.

“The schedule won’t be as busy as usual, but it is what it is and I have to make the most of it,” he said.

Sheffield are pressing ahead with the remainder of their side and have a number of options.

They will need to include a new young British rider from the list of star ratings down at reserve as the sport looks to hand more opportunities for the younger generation.

Fixtures were revealed last week and Eurosport are expected to announce their first pick of meetings to broadcast closer to the start of the season.
