ANDY HANGS UP THE CAMERA

Friday March 19, 2021
SHEFFIELD track photographer Andy Garner has hung up his lens ahead of the new season.

Andy, a popular figure around Owlerton, has invested hours of his own time to support the club over many years both at speedway meetings and promotional visits in the community.

Now he's decided to enjoy the action from the other side of the fence.

Club co-promoter Julie Reading said: "Andy has been in touch to say he feels the time is right to retire as club photographer.

"On behalf of Damien Bates, Peter Mole, Simon Stead and myself I would like to offer the club's sincere thanks for the wonderful work he has done for us.

"The role of a club photographer is a vital one. Images of the sport for reginal print and digital media are vital to promote the product, as well as the club's own social media platforms.

"Andy has give us his time and expertise for many years and he will always be welcome at Owlerton. We wish him well for the future and look forward to seeing him soon."

Andy's decision come on the back of long serving stalwarts Lou Charlesworth (start marshall) and Paul Rickett (programme and PR) retiring from their duties.

Sheffield Speedway will remain eternally grateful for all their support and we look forward to welcoming them as guests of the club.
