WRIGHT – TIGERS MOVE ‘OUT OF THE BLUE’

Thursday April 22, 2021
JAMES Wright has revealed how his move to Sheffield came ‘out of the blue’.

Wright is making a comeback after five years out of the sport, but he’s been a regular on the grasstrack circuit.

And he’s thrilled to have the opportunity to link up with the Tru Plant Tigers for their first season back in the top flight.

“It all came out the blue really,” he said.

“I got a ‘phone call from the Bates family, they asked me what my thoughts were and it went from there really.

“I always said I wanted to double up; I thought maybe during the season, do a few meetings and then maybe the opportunity would come.

“But this came at the right time for me and I’m just going to take it with both hands and it will do me the world of good having two clubs.

“The extra meetings will keep me busy and I just can’t wait to get started really.”

Wright is also backing Sheffield for a successful season when they get going next month.

“From what I can see we look a really decent side,” Wright said.

“But we always say from the beginning of the season that the racing isn’t done on paper.

“So everyone has just got to ride to their potential and then we’ll find out where we are come the end of the season.”

Tigers open the campaign at Belle Vue on Monday May 17 and then return to Owlerton on Thursday May 20 for a clash with Peterborough.
