SHEFFIELD’S return to Owlerton Stadium is on hold – because of the weather.

Tonight’s Premiership clash with Peterborough, the first racing at the venue since October 2019, has been postponed due to rain which is forecast to continue throughout the day.

The meeting will now take place on Thursday July 8 and all tickets purchased for tonight will be valid for that date.

The new date for Peterborough’s second Premiership visit will be known in the very near future.

Distraught Tru Plant Tigers co-promoter Damien Bates said: “After over 500 days with no racing the wait goes on. I cannot believe it. We’re all absolutely gutted about it.

“We’ve gone to great expense to get everything ready and it’s been a lengthy process to get us back on track, we’ve had some sleepless nights and it wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our landlords and the council.

“We now have to wait another two weeks when we welcome Wolverhampton on Thursday June 3.”
