PREVIEW: PETERBOROUGH v TIGERS

Sunday May 23, 2021
SHEFFIELD skipper Kyle Howarth is backing his side to add to their away tally when they head to Peterborough on Monday (7.30).

Tigers picked up a consolation point from their narrow defeat at Belle Vue last week and Howarth says they are capable of doing more at the East of England Arena.

A full strength Sheffield side has been named to face an experienced Peterborough outfit including legendary British duo Chris Harris and Scott Nicholls.

Said Howarth: “We’re a good side and we can pick up points away from home. It’s always important to win home meetings but there’s no reason why we can’t pick up points on the road.

“We’ve got strength in every department and I think we are in for a good season. It will be good to get the lads together at Peterborough after our home meeting last Thursday was rained off.

“We did well at Belle Vue last week, they’re one of the strongly fancied teams in the league and we could have won there, but at least we got a point.

“Peterborough have got riders I respect a lot but it’s a track we like and I’m sure we can do well around there.”

Howarth has seen three successive meetings washed out with both Sheffield and his Championship side Leicester so is keen to get back on track.

“It’s been a frustrating week so I can’t wait to get back on the bike,” he said. “It’s ironic that the return of speedway has seen rain all over the place. You couldn’t make it up!”

PETERBOROUGH: Bjarne Pedersen, Hans Andersen, Michael Palm Toft, Scott Nicholls, Chris Harris, Jordan Palin, Ulrich Ostergaard.

SHEFFIELD: Troy Batchelor, Kyle Howarth, Adam Ellis, Justin Sedgmen, Jack Holder, James Wright, Josh Bates.
