TIGERS AIM TO BUILD ON WIN

Sunday June 06, 2021
SHEFFIELD aim to build on their first win of the season when they head to Wolverhampton on Monday (7.30).

Simon Stead’s men beat the Monmore Green outfit when the sides met at Owlerton on Thursday and is looking for more of the same.

British Champion Rory Schlein misses out for Wolves with a leg injury sustained at Glasgow on Friday.

New Tru Plant Tigers signing Troy Batchelor is aiming to build on his impressive 12-point haul from Thursday.

“It was great to get some wins, the first couple of meetings were tough for me, it felt like I’d never ridden the bike before,” he said.

“But I had a practice at Leicester last Wednesday and that helped me sort a few things out and I was much more comfortable on Thursday.

“Hopefully I can do something similar at Wolves but it’s always a tough place to go and they’ve got a strong side.

“It’s another tough one for us. We’ll go there and give it our best shot, a point would be nice but it would be even better to get the win away from home.

“I’m just pleased to be back racing, I’m pleased to be with Sheffield and it’s an exciting season ahead.”

Tigers skipper Kyle Howarth returns to his former track with the team unchanged from Thursday night.

Wolverhampton are operating under a severely reduced capacity and the meeting is sold out but will be shown live on Eurosport.

WOLVERHAMPTON: Sam Masters, Luke Becker, Nick Morris, Ryan Douglas, Rory Schlein R/R, Broc Nicol, Tom Bacon.
