PETERBOROUGH 54 TIGERS 36

Monday June 28, 2021
SHEFFIELD suffered a 54-36 away defeat at in-form Peterborough on Monday.

It was the heaviest loss of the season for the Tru Plant Tigers but it did come against a Panthers side who made it five wins on the spin and returned to the top of the Premiership standings in the process.

Heat-leaders Jack Holder and Adam Ellis totalled 22 of Sheffield’s 36-points on a disappointing night for Simon Stead’s men.

Said Ellis: “It was difficult.

“We didn’t really get going from the off which was frustrating but we fought hard and what can we say, they’re strong around here.

“We thought we had a chance here though with the track being similar to ours but it just wasn’t to be.”

Sheffield aim to bounce back to winning ways, and maintain their unbeaten start at Owlerton, when they renew rivalries with Belle Vue this Thursday (July 1, 7.30).

It will be the first ‘War of the Roses’ league clash in the Steel City for 25 years on what promises to be another night of pure entertainment.
