CUP FINAL TARGET FOR TIGERS

Thursday April 07, 2022
SHEFFIELD Tigers aim to put one foot in the League Cup Final tonight when Belle Vue visit Owlerton (7.30).

Simon Stead’s men go into the meeting on the back of two away wins over the Manchester side and Wolverhampton and are firm favourites to win the group.

But Belle Vue are in the mood for revenge in the latest clash between two clubs who have missed out on clashes over the last 20 years until Sheffield’s promotion last year.

Said Tru Plant Tigers boss Stead: “Meetings with Belle Vue are always special and tonight will be no different.

“We have to win these two home meetings to top the group and head into the League Cup Final. For us to reach a final of a major competition in only our second season in the Premiership would be something to be proud of but, make no mistake, both Belle Vue and Wolves will be coming here with revenge on their agenda.

“We cannot afford to let slip the fine work we have done in those two away meetings so we have to approach tonight’s meeting in the right manner.”

The club are looking for volunteers to stay behind after tonight’s meeting to help remove the air fence as there is a Stock Car meeting at the stadium this weekend.

Anyone who can help is asked to visit the speedway office before the meeting or head to the pits after the final race.

The new-look official club programme is on sale on entry to the stadium and despite dramatic rises in paper costs remains the same price as last season with a similar word count for fans to enjoy for £3.

SHEFFIELD: Jack Holder, Craig Cook, Tobiasz Muzsielak, Kyle Howarth, Adam Ellis, Stefan Nielsen, Connor Mountain.

BELLE VUE: Max Fricke, Jye Etheridge, Jake Allen, Charles Wright, Brady Kurtz, Norick Blodorn, Tom Brennan.
