TIGERS 51 PETERBOROUGH 39

TOBIASZ Musielak struck a stunning 15-point maximum as Sheffield beat Peterborough in their Premiership opener on Thursday.

The Tru Plant Tigers defeated the reigning Champions 51-39 at Owlerton after another impressive display from Simon Stead’s side.

It was Polish winter signing Musielak who stole the show though, producing five faultless rides to wow the Sheffield faithful.

He received solid back-up from fellow heat-leaders Jack Holder and Adam Ellis who both notched double figures.

Meanwhile, reserve Connor Mountain recorded his highest score of the season so far while captain Kyle Howarth came up with two paid wins.

Craig Cook and Stefan Nielsen both endured tougher nights at the office - but the points they did manage ensured the visitors left the Steel City with nothing to show for their efforts.

Tru Plant Tigers team manager Stead said: “That was a really good start for us.

“We continued where we left off really from our early Premiership League Cup results and I think that was a really, really solid display from us against good opposition, considering we’ve not been here for a considerable amount of time.

“I think we were a little bit rusty, but ultimately we’ve got the job done.

“It probably looks more convincing than it actually was; Peterborough kept us honest for a long period of time in the match.

“But it’s nice to get off to a winning start in the league and we look forward to the next one.”

The first half of the fixture saw six shared races in the opening eight heats - with only two advantages from Musielak and Howarth splitting the two sides.

They then delivered a 5-1 in Heat Nine to open up a ten-point gap.

Sheffield sealed the deal in Heat 13 with another maximum with Ellis taking a comfortable win, whilst Holder produced one of the best individual rides in a long, long time to get past Peterborough No.1 Michael Palm Toft to claim second place on the final lap.

The visitors kept their hopes of snatching a consolation league point alive with their first maximum of the night in the penultimate race.

But Musielak and Holder denied them their first point of the season as Chris Harris crashed out at high speed whilst challenging for second.

The Tru Plant Tigers are next in action at Ipswich on Monday, May 16 before hosting Wolverhampton at Owlerton on Thursday, May 19 in an all-important Premiership League Cup clash at the top of their Northern Group.
