PREVIEW: IPSWICH v TIGERS

Sunday May 15, 2022
SHEFFIELD head to Ipswich on Monday (May 16, 7.30) for their first away league fixture of the year.

The Tru Plant Tigers opened their Premiership account earlier this month with a 51-39 home win over reigning Champions Peterborough.

That was on the back of a successful League Cup run which saw them win three out of three.

So confidence is high within the Tigers’ camp - as it is for Monday’s opponents also.

After losing all four of their League Cup meetings, Ipswich made a team change introducing former Great Britain international Ben Barker in place of Cameron Heeps.

Since then the Suffolk side have won both of their league fixtures so far, including an impressive 48-42 away win at Wolverhampton last Monday.

And ahead of their trip to Foxhall, Tru Plant Tigers team boss Simon Stead is expecting a keenly contested fixture in front of the Eurosport cameras.

“It’s going to be interesting,” said Stead.

“It has been a little bit stop start, stop start up to now for us but I’d like us to carry forward the momentum that we’ve got.

“We want to put in a dominant display - but we know we’re in for a tough fixture.

“Ipswich always ride their place very well so it won’t be easy but it would be nice to continue the current form that we’re in.”

IPSWICH: Jason Doyle, Erik Riss, Danny King, Ben Barker, Troy Batchelor, Paul Starke, Danyon Hume.

SHEFFIELD: Jack Holder, Craig Cook, Tobiasz Musielak, Kyle Howarth, Adam Ellis, Stefan Nielsen, Connor Mountain.
