PREVIEW: PETERBOROUGH v TIGERS

Sunday June 12, 2022
SHEFFIELD will hand a debut to Jake Allen when they head to Peterborough on Monday (June 13, 7.30).

The Australian signed in place of Stefan Nielsen at reserve on Friday after the former British Under-19 Champion endured a tough start to the season with the Tru Plant Tigers.

Sheffield go into the fixture at the East of England Arena on something of a high following Thursday's dramatic last gasp win over Wolverhampton at Owlerton.

They face Peterborough who kept the majority of their title winning side together over the winter - but the reigning Champions are yet to register a single league point this term.

Ahead of the clash, team boss Simon Stead said: “I’d like us to start building a bit of momentum now - we know Peterborough will be difficult though.

“They may be going through a real rough patch right now but Speedway can turn around in a heartbeat.

“Results might not have been going their way of late but Rob Lyon (Peterborough team manager) will have his side fired up I’m sure and we’ll need to be at our best.

“It is a track our boys like and somewhere where we’ll be looking to capitalise on them not being in the best of form though.

“At the same time we’ll not be taking anything for granted that’s for sure.”

Tigers will await a fitness update on Rising Star Connor Mountain who suffered a hefty landing when he looped in Heat 1 of his Championship duties with Leicester on Saturday.

PETERBOROUGH: Michael Palm Toft, Ulrich Ostergaard, Hans Andersen, Scott Nicholls, Chris Harris, Benjamin Basso, Jordan Palin.

SHEFFIELD: Jack Holder, Craig Cook, Tobiasz Musielak, Kyle Howarth, Adam Ellis, Jake Allen, Connor Mountain TBC.
