ELLIS TO RACE IN THE EUROS

Monday June 20, 2022
SHEFFIELD'S Adam Ellis admits he was "over the moon" to book his place in the 2022 Speedway European Championship Series.

The reigning British Champion was called up to Saturday's Challenge qualifier in Krsko, Slovenia - and secured the top five finish required.

He finished on nine points with two wins and three thirds - leaving him one single point ahead of five other riders on eight.

It means Ellis will now take place in the Four Round Series and he's looking forward to the challenge that lies ahead.

He said: "It was kind of one of my goals for this season to be honest.

"After becoming British Champion last year, I kind of saw this as the next step if that makes sense?

"There are a lot of good riders involved and it might only be a mini-series but it's still competitive and it's still a major thing to be involved in.

"Obviously I'm over the moon - now it's up to me to go out there in each of the rounds and show what I can do."

Ellis will be the special guest on this week's 'No Breaks, No Fear', the Official British Speedway Podcast.

Out every Wednesday morning throughout the season, you can listen via Spotify, Apple Podcasts and all other podcast apps or visit britishspeedway.co.uk/podcast.
The Tru Plant Tigers head to King's Lynn this Thursday (June 23, 7.30) before hosting Ipswich at Owlerton next Monday (June 27, 7.30) - where it will be Under-16s free and the first 100 kids through the turnstiles will receive a free 'hand clapper'.
