PREVIEW: KING'S LYNN v SHEFFIELD

Wednesday June 22, 2022
SHEFFIELD make a first trip of the season to King’s Lynn on Thursday (June 23, 7.30).

The Tru Plant Tigers will be looking to put in a strong performance at the Adrian Flux Arena – with the Stars’ seeing their unbeaten home start ended last time out in Norfolk.

The outcome of the fixture will make for some interesting reading come the end of the night.

Sheffield are currently one place and five points in front of King’s Lynn. So not only would a Tigers win create some breathing space between the two sides in the standings, it could also see them go level on points with league leaders Belle Vue, dependent on results elsewhere.

Meanwhile a King’s Lynn victory could see them move within two points of the Tigers and team boss Simon Stead knows it will require a full team display to come away with the desired result.

“We were disappointed after letting the lead slip at Peterborough so we know we need to get focussed again,” he said.

“A win away at King’s Lynn would be a real good way of not only getting some more important points on the board but also establishing ourselves right back up there.

“We know it’s not going to be easy though; they’re a tough team who have been very well made-up this year so we’ll have to be very, very good to go there and win.

“I do feel like we have got some riders coming into form though. Cookie (Craig Cook) looked great at Peterborough, I believe he’s turned a real corner with us now, so hopefully he can continue on at his old track and take a bit of heat off our heat-leaders and hopefully we will have enough in the tank all round.”

The Tru Plant Tigers are at full strength while King’s Lynn hand a guest booking to Nick Morris in place of the ‘recalled’ Niels-Kristian Iversen with Jason Edwards making his Rising Star debut for the hosts.

KING’S LYNN: Richard Lawson, Lewis Kerr, Nick Morris, Thomas Jorgensen, Josh Pickering, Richie Worrall, Jason Edwards.

SHEFFIELD: Jack Holder, Craig Cook, Tobiasz Musielak, Kyle Howarth, Adam Ellis, Jake Allen, Connor Mountain.
