AWAY-DAY JOY FOR BOOEY'S BOYS

Saturday April 05, 2008
SHEFFIELD'S Premier Trophy Speedway hopes are still alive after a superb 48-45 weekend win at Stoke.

It was their second away win of the campaign and with three-points for wins on the road this season they are now in a good position to qualify for the semi-finals.

Skipper Andre Compton was top scorer with 11+1 but it was a solid all-round team performance from the Owlerton side who forced the Potters into several errors and exclusions.

With just four races to go they were 14-points up after a 5-0 whitewash and the meeting appeared to be all over - but Stoke bounced back and when ex-Tigers Lee Complin win the penultimate race for a Potters 8-1 they could still complete a remarkable comeback.

Any nerves in the Tigers camp were soon calmed, however, when Ben Barker fell in the last heat decider and was excluded, handing the match to the jubilant Tigers.

STOKE: Lee Complin 15, Ben Barker 13, Mark Burrows 7+3, Emiliano Sanchez 5, Claus Jakobsen 2, Barrie Evans 2, Jesper Kristiansen 1+1.
SHEFFIELD: Andre Compton 11+1, Ricky Ashworth 10, Joel Parsons 8+4, Ben Wilson 8, Paul Cooper 6+2, Sam Martin 3, Simon Lambert 2+1.
