MUSIELAK MISSES IPSWICH TRIP

Thursday July 21, 2022
TOBIASZ Musielak will miss Sheffield’s trip to league leaders Ipswich tonight (Thursday, July 21, 7.30).

The pacey Pole was forced out of Monday’s Premiership Pairs round at Wolverhampton after crashing in his home country on Sunday.

And now he’s failed a late fitness test ahead of the Tru Plant Tigers’ visit to Foxhall.

Team manager Simon Stead said: “Tobi went for X-Rays Sunday into Monday as he was having some difficulties with his breathing.

“We spoke to him on Wednesday and he’s still got pains in his chest and he’s in some discomfort with his arm as well.

“It goes without saying we’re disappointed and it is a blow to us; he got dialled into the Ipswich track when we went there earlier in the season and rode really, really well there in the Pairs last month.”

Sheffield are set to operate rider replacement in his absence, with everyone except Jack Holder eligible to cover his outings, as they aim to battle to register some more points to their current Premiership total.

The South Yorkshire side have already won once in Suffolk this season - but the hosts have steadily improved since.

While Ipswich have faced plenty of last heat deciders this term, last week they enjoyed their biggest home success of the year against Belle Vue.

Said Stead: “Ipswich certainly seem to be riding their place better than the last time we were there in May so we know it won’t be easy, even more so without Tobi.

“It’s going to need our other six Sheffield riders to all step up and chip in - and as always we’ll go there and give it our best shot.”

Ipswich hand a guest booking to reigning British Under-21 Champion Tom Brennan in place of Ben Barker who aggravated a shoulder injury earlier this week while rider replacement operates for Paul Starke.

IPSWICH: Jason Doyle, Paul Starke R/R, Danny King, Tom Brennan, Troy Batchelor, Erik Riss, Danyon Hume.

SHEFFIELD: Jack Holder, Kyle Howarth, Adam Ellis, Craig Cook, Tobiasz Musielak R/R, Justin Sedgmen, Connor Mountain.
