BRITISH FINAL PREVIEW

Sunday July 31, 2022
SHEFFIELD’S Adam Ellis aims to retain his national crown in the 2022 Sports Insure British Final Championship on Monday (August 1, 7.30).

The Tru Plant Tigers’ heat-leader topped the scorecharts last year before making a lighting start in the Final to win the showpiece event for the very first time.

And whilst acknowledging the target will be on his back this time around at Belle Vue’s National Speedway Stadium, Ellis is heading to Manchester with the belief he can do it all over again.

Said Ellis: “It’s going to be a tough one but of course after winning it once, you know you can do it.

“It’s not going to be an easy task.

“Winning it last year does make me want to win it back-to-back but it also means there’s guys who will want to take it away from me.

“So it’s not going to be an easy one, but it’s the British Final, they never really are.

“It’s a big title that everyone wants but hopefully I can go there and get the job done again.”

Sheffield skipper Kyle Howarth will also be looking to make an impact in the event while Craig Cook is facing a late fitness test after crashing heavily whilst on Championship duty on Friday.

Rising Star Connor Mountain is the first track reserve.
