PREVIEW: TIGERS v KING’S LYNN

Sunday August 07, 2022
SHEFFIELD will be without Craig Cook for Monday’s home fixture against King’s Lynn (August 8, 7.30).

The former British Champion is still feeling second hand from a crash whilst on Championship duty with Glasgow just over a week ago.

Rider replacement will be in operation with Kyle Howarth, Justin Sedgmen and Connor Mountain eligible to cover his rides.

It’s a big meeting for the Tru Plant Tigers who return to Owlerton for the first time in just under a month.

They currently have a meeting in hand on Monday’s visitors and sit 11 points ahead of the Stars in the current standings.

But with King’s Lynn feeling boosted by a recent double swoop for former Sheffield man Nicolai Klindt and Frederik Jakobsen, Tru Plant Tigers team boss Simon Stead is anticipating a keenly contested fixture.

“I think it’s going to be a fantastic meeting on Monday,” Stead said.

“We’ve got two teams going head-to-head who are both really up for it for different reasons.

“Our lads are itching to get back racing at home and are really keen to add three more points to the board.

“King’s Lynn know they can’t really afford to lose this meeting if they’re to keep their play-off hopes alive.

“So there’s plenty on the line, plenty to ride for and it’s going to need a solid team effort to see them off.”

Sheffield Speedway would like to reiterate to supporters that Monday’s meeting is NOT being broadcast.
