PREVIEW: TIGERS v KING’S LYNN

Wednesday September 14, 2022
SHEFFIELD aim to keep their quest for Premiership top spot going when they host King’s Lynn on Thursday (September 15, 7.30).

Following the postponement of this coming Monday’s (September 19) fixtures, due to the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II taking place earlier that same day, the Tru Plant Tigers know their goals are in their own hands.

Two more home wins against the Stars and Belle Vue (September 22, 7.30) would not only see them finish the regular campaign unbeaten at Owlerton, but they would pip Ipswich to the league leaders tag and take on the fourth placed side in the play-off semi-finals.

Sheffield confirmed their top four finish last week with a 51-39 away win over King’s Lynn - with recent recruit Lewis Kerr playing a key role against his former club.

And after impressing on his home debut last time out against Wolverhampton, the experienced Brit is looking forward to getting another meeting under his belt in front of the Tigers’ faithful.

Said Kerr: “The vibe in the pits is really good.

“It’s just a nice feeling how much everyone wants to win.

“I’m just loving being at Sheffield; all the lads are great, Steady (Simon Stead - team manager) has been really good for me as well, telling me what I should be doing and he’s always really positive.

“There’s just a really good feel around this club.”

A full interview with Kerr plus exclusive columns from Damien Bates, Simon Stead and Peter Mole plus much, much more can be found in the official raceday programme, available trackside for £3.

Supporters are reminded that anyone who purchased the ‘September Savings’ package in advance online before the Ipswich cancellation will still be able to gain admission using that pass on Thursday, with discussions ongoing between club bosses about the outstanding fixture.

Meanwhile, Sheffield Speedway Season Ticket Holders 1-53 will receive their Centre Green Experience against King’s Lynn - and will receive full details upon arrival at the track.
