THURSDAY PREVIEW: KING'S LYNN v TIGERS

Wednesday May 31, 2023
SHEFFIELD will be aiming to continue their terrific record against King’s Lynn and add three more points to their Sports Insure Premiership tally on Thursday (June 1, 7.30).

The Tru Plant Tigers head to the Adrian Flux Arena favourites to claim the aggregate point that is up for grabs having beaten the Stars 60-30 at Owlerton last week.

That was a result which extended their unbeaten top-flight run against the Norfolk side to 13 meetings in all competitions since stepping up into the Premiership in 2021.

That includes a 56-34 away win earlier in the season when the two sides met in their Knockout Cup Quarter-Final.

But with three consecutive league losses on their travels, Tru Plant Tigers boss Simon Stead is keen to see his side carry the momentum over from their confidence boosting home triumph last week.

“We’re confident but we never take anything for granted,” Stead said.

“I know we’ve already had a good result there this season but King’s Lynn is a tough place to go to as an away team.

“We just need to carry on where we left off last Thursday though, stay dominant and hopefully we can put another win on the board.”

A change in the greensheet averages for June sees a total reshuffle of Sheffield’s riding order.

A sensational start to the campaign for Tobiasz Musielak sees him jump above Jack Holder to take over the No.1 racejacket while Lewis Kerr also replaces captain Kyle Howarth in the main body of the team.

The Tigers will be without David Bellego though after he was signed out of last week’s clash against the Stars with concussion – rider replacement will come into play for him with Adam Ellis, Kerr, Howarth and Dan Gilkes eligible to cover his programmed outings.

Meanwhile, King’s Lynn have been boosted by the signing of 2021 Artem Laguta. He will make his Stars debut with Kye Thomson also joining the Club in place of former Sheffield man Josh Pickering.

For supporters who can’t make the journey to Norfolk, the fixture will be streamed online via the British Speedway Network at: watch.britishspeedway.co.uk/
