KING'S LYNN 31 TIGERS 59

Thursday June 01, 2023
SHEFFIELD produced their biggest ever away victory in the Sports Insure Premiership as they demolished King’s Lynn 59-31 at the Adrian Flux Arena.

It continued their terrific record in the top-flight against the Stars – they are now 14 unbeaten against them in all competitions.

The South Yorkshire side picked up where they left off against the Norfolk outfit having thumped them 60-30 at Owlerton seven days previous.

And once again, the Tru Plant Tigers were truly dominant from start to finish.

Despite the hosts including 2021 World Champion Artem Laguta in their line-up for the first time, Sheffield opened with five straight heat advantages, four of which were 5-1 maximums.

That saw them open up an 18-point lead on the night – and they never looked back as they won 12 of the 15 races.

It saw them end their run of three straight losses on the road in the league as they added three points to their Sports Insure Premiership tally with three of their riders going unbeaten.

Fresh from qualifying for the Grand Prix Challenge, Jack Holder romped to a full 12-point maximum. That included one stunning ride which saw him dive underneath Laguta down the back straight on the final lap of Heat Six to help send him into this weekend’s Czech Republic Grand Prix full of confidence.

Tobiasz Musielak, who lined-up in the No.1 racejacket for the first time this season, was also unstoppable with a series of classy rides while Lewis Kerr celebrated his elevation into the main body of the team with an expert demonstration of gating against his former employers.

Captain Kyle Howarth and Adam Ellis were also among paid double figures while Rising Star Dan Gilkes enjoyed another night of invaluable experience in the top-flight.

The Tru Plant Tigers turn their attentions to the first leg of their Sports Insure Premiership Knockout Cup Semi-Final next up when they host Wolverhampton at Owlerton next Thursday (June 8, 7.30).

KING’S LYNN 31: Artem Laguta 9+1, Thomas Jorgensen 5+2, Frederik Jakobsen 5, Michael Palm Toft 5, Kye Thomson 4, Nick Morris 2, Jason Edwards 1+1.
SHEFFIELD 59: Tobiasz Musielak 13+2, Lewis Kerr 13+2, Jack Holder 12, Kyle Howarth 11+2, Adam Ellis 8+3, Dan Gilkes 2, David Bellego R/R.
