TIGERS 51 IPSWICH 39

Thursday June 15, 2023
SHEFFIELD took all three league points on offer from their 51-39 win over Ipswich at Owlerton.

It was the same scoreline they lost to the Witches by in Suffolk on Monday - but with this being the Sports Insure Premiership Round 1 fixture, the Tru Plant Tigers won the aggregate point 94-86 following their four point defeat back in April.

With the two sides level on points in the table ahead of the fixture, the Steel City side knew the importance of this head-to-head.

With Ipswich’s top two in fine form, the Tigers were targeting the heats in which Jason Doyle and Emil Sayfutdinov did not feature.

And out of those seven races in question, Simon Stead’s side struck all six of their heat advantages to successfully see off the Witches, despite a stunning paid maximum from Sayfutdinov on his first ever visit to South Yorkshire.

Sheffield skipper Kyle Howarth dropped only one point to the opposition as he raced to double figures at home for the third meeting on the trot.

Tobiasz Musielak admitted he found it a tough night - but that didn’t stop him recording two wins on his way to paid double figures.

Meanwhile the remaining five Tigers all registered one race win apiece as they maintained their 100 per cent home record this year.

The Tru Plant Tigers travel to Wolverhampton on Monday (June 19, 7.30) for the deciding leg of their Sports Insure Premiership Knockout Cup Semi-Final before hosting Leicester in the league next Thursday (June 22, 7.30).

SHEFFIELD 51: Kyle Howarth 10+4, Tobiasz Musielak 9+1, Jack Holder 9, Adam Ellis 8+1, Lewis Kerr 5+1, David Bellego 5+1, Dan Gilkes 5+1.
IPSWICH 39: Emil Sayfutdinov 14+1, Jason Doyle 13+1, Danny King 5+1, Dan Thompson 3, Danyon Hume 2+1, Ben Barker 2, Keynan Rew 0.
Sheffield win the aggregate point 94-86
