TIGERS 58 KING'S LYNN 32

Thursday April 18, 2024
SHEFFIELD’S first home fixture of the season saw them pick up an emphatic 58-32 victory over King’s Lynn.

The Tru7 Group Tigers built on last Thursday’s victory at Leicester with a truly dominant display at Owlerton.

The visitors arrived depleted with Danish stars Niels-Kristian Iversen and Benjamin Basso ruled out in the build up to the fixture - but it was the men from Norfolk who edged ahead in Heat Two.

However, the Tigers responded with four straight heat advantages, including three 5-1s, to open up a 12 point lead.

Tai Woffinden made it successive wins when he took the chequered flag in a 3-3 in Heat Seven before a series of dramatic races saw the Tigers land three 4-2s in a row.

Rising Star Dan Gilkes took Heat Eight but the action unfolded behind him. As Kyle Howarth lined up a move on Vadim Tarasenko, the King’s Lynn man’s bike packed up, leaving the Sheffield skipper no reaction time whatsoever as he clouted into the back of his opponent. Thankfully, after taking a few moments, Howarth was back up and walking to the pits.

Josh Pickering pulled off a sensational last lap manoeuvre underneath former Tiger Tobiasz Musielak down the back straight to claim Heat Nine before Jack Holder eased to victory in the tenth whilst Howarth was repassed by King’s Lynn guest Tom Brennan for second.

Musielak ended Woffinden’s winning run in Heat 11 before back-to-back 5-1s followed with Jack Holder sealing a paid maximum in Heat 13.

The fixture finished with two shared races but a full team effort saw the Tigers extend their unbeaten run against the Stars to 17 fixtures in the top-flight.

The two sides meet again in Norfolk next Thursday (April 25, 7.30 pm) at King’s Lynn’s Adrian Flux Arena.
