JACK Holder set a new track record as Sheffield moved to within one point of league leaders Ipswich with a 54-36 win over Birmingham.
The Tru7 Group Tigers’ No.1 ended Ricky Ashworth’s near 14 year reign as the fastest man around Owlerton as his transponder recorded a time of 58.92 in Heat 13.
That was the race Sheffield also secured their third victory in a row as Holder and Tai Woffinden combined for a 5-1.
Sheffield won 13 of the 15 races and denied the visitors a single heat advantage as a strong second half showing in particular saw them stretch their lead from six to 18 points.
Chris Holder dropped just one point when he was beaten by Brummies skipper Steve Worrall in Heat Eight whilst brother Jack rounded off his night with three straight victories.
Tai Woffinden secured a paid maximum and produced a stunning individual ride in Heat 11 as he worked his way from third to first, passing Zach Cook around the outside on the run to the line.
After a disappointing start, captain Kyle Howarth switched bikes to go unbeaten by an opponent in his next three outings to earn himself another Heat 15 nomination.
Jason Edwards won Heat Two for a third fixture running on his way to five points whilst Dan Gilkes had to settle for two points after getting blocked out on the opening bend on a couple of occasions.
The Tru7 Group Tigers are back in action next Thursday (June 6, 7.30pm) when they travel to King’s Lynn for the first leg of their Knockout Cup Semi-Final.
