NICHOLLS WINS BRITISH TITLE

Thursday May 29, 2008
RICKY Ashworth was able to enjoy a race win in the British Final as Scott Nicholls took the title for a fifth time.

Ashworth was the surprise winner of Heat 10 as Nicholls ground to a halt with a blown engine in the early stages, and the Sheffield man rode a fast race to defeat David Howe and Chris Neath.

Unfortunately, they were the only points he scored in the meeting which Nicholls dominated with the exception of the engine failure - and the GB captain headed home Edward Kennett, Tai Woffinden and Chris Harris in the Final.

Scorers: Chris Harris 14, Scott Nicholls 12, Tai Woffinden 11, James Wright 11, Simon Stead 10, Edward Kennett 9, Lewis Bridger 8, Leigh Lanham 8, Adam Roynon 6, Daniel King 6, William Lawson 5, David Howe 5, Richard Hall 4, Chris Neath 4, Ben Barker 3, Ricky Ashworth 3
