SHEFFIELD raced to a comprehensive 54-36 home win over Belle Vue as they again claimed the bragging rights against their Roses rivals.
It was a second successive 18 point triumph in the Steel City for the Tru7 Group Tigers who beat Birmingham by the same scoreline on their last home outing in May.
Simon Stead’s side were in dreamland from the off as they stunned their opponents early doors.
They opened with back-to-back 5-1s before a 4-2 in Heat Three saw them open up a ten point lead.
Dan Bewley handed the visitors their first race win and advantage of the night in the fourth before the Tigers managed another couple of 4-2s of their own to gain further control.
Tai Woffinden won the first shared race of the night in the seventh before Dan Gilkes picked up his second race win of the night in Heat Eight as he led a 4-2 with Kyle Howarth to move the hosts into a 31-17 lead.
Howarth then followed Jack Holder home in Heat Ten for the pair’s second 5-1 of the evening before consecutive 3-3s for the Tigers sealed the points with three races to spare.
Sheffield took the three league points on offer to move them away from the Aces in the standings and create a cushion in second place in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership.
The Tigers are back in action next Thursday (June 27, 7.30pm) when they host King’s Lynn at Owlerton in the decider of their Knockout Cup Semi-Final.
