SHEFFIELD moved back up to second in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership courtesy of a 58-31 home win over King’s Lynn - their biggest of the season so far.
It was the fifth meeting in succession that the Tru7 Group Tigers broke the 50 point barrier at Owlerton with another dominant performance.
Already missing captain Nicolai Klindt, the visitors were reduced to just five riders when Benjamin Basso crashed out of Heat Three, and the Tigers, already two up at that point, went on to take full advantage.
Between Heats Four and Seven they registered two 5-1s and a rare 5-0 to open up a 27-14 lead.
Back-to-back shared races followed before another 5-1 in Heat Ten, won by the returning Jack Holder whilst guest Tom Brennan forced his way by Grand Prix racer Jan Kvech superbly on bend four to complete a paid maximum.
Chris Holder and Josh Pickering took the chequered flag in the next two heats before the action reached a new level in three fascinating final races.
King’s Lynn’s pairing of guest No.1 Justin Sedgmen and Niels-Kristian Iversen gated on a 5-1 in Heat 13, but a stunning effort from the Holder brothers saw them both work their way past their opponents in the closing stages as Chris achieved a fully deserved full four ride maximum.
Heat 14 saw captain Kyle Howarth denied a race win on the run to the line when Kvech blasted it around the boards on the final turn before Pickering cut back superbly to pass Iversen off the last bend in Heat 15 to record a final 5-1 with Jack Holder.
The Tru7 Group Tigers will be looking to put their away day woes behind them when they head to basement club Birmingham on Monday (July 22, 7.30pm).
