SHEFFIELD claimed two more league points from a pulsating 45-45 home draw with Leicester on Thursday.
The Tru7 Group Tigers held the lead from the first race until Heat 15 when the visitors recorded a 5-1 to draw level.
But the Holder brothers, Jack and Chris, combined superbly to take the extra league point with a 7-2 in the decider.
The Tigers opened with a 4-2 before four shared races followed.
The hosts then doubled their advantage when Jack Holder and Josh Pickering scored a second 4-2 in Heat Six before Chris Holder led a 3-3 in Heat Seven.
Whilst Jack Holder stormed to a third straight victory in Heat Eight, it was Rising Star Dan Gilkes who was involved in the thick of the action with Leicester’s Richard Lawson. The pair re-passed one another on several occasions before the Tigers’ No.7 was eventually forced to settle for third.
A hat-trick of 3-3s followed, and with the gap at six points, Leicester boss Stewart Dickson opted to bring in No.1 Max Fricke as a Tactical Substitute in Heat 12. Sheffield skipper Kyle Howarth was able to split Fricke and Sam Masters though to restrict the damage.
After a rare last place in his previous outing in Heat 10, Jack Holder responded superbly in Heat 13 to drive under Fricke and deny the Leicester skipper a third straight win, and with Chris holding off Ryan Douglas, their six point lead was restored.
Josh Pickering pushed Luke Becker to the line in Heat 14, but Lions’ guest reserve Antti Vuolas managed to work his way by Jason Edwards to force the last heat decider.
Plenty of deliberation went on in the Tigers’ side of the pits before boss Simon Stead went with Jack Holder and Pickering. But the pair were outgated and Fricke and Luke Becker got the visitors’ first 5-1 of the night to draw level.
Sheffield won the toss and whilst Stead stuck with Jack Holder for the Super Heat, he changed his attack on this occasion and partnered him with brother Chris.
They flew away from gates one and three and they delivered another two important league points for the Tigers.
They are back at Owlerton next Thursday (August 8, 7.30pm) when they host league leaders Ipswich.
