SHEFFIELD’S Premier League trip to Glasgow on Sunday afternoon was aborted after just two races when persistent rain left the track waterlogged.

The rain had been falling continuously during the early heats and after a couple of races the referee was called from his box to inspect the track.

His decision was to take a break to do some track work and to see if the rain eased, but unfortunately the wet weather continued and after consulting both teams the meeting was eventually abandoned.

The scores were tied at 6-6 at the time, but the result will not stand so the match will have to be re-staged later in the season.

For the record, William Lawson won a shared heat 1 ahead of Ricky Ashworth and Joel Parsons, with heat 2 going the same way when Sheffield’s Lee Smethills defeated the Glasgow pair of Mitchell Davey and Adam McKinna.
