SHEFFIELD will announce their brand new club captain at a special STAARS event next Thursday (March 20, 7.30pm).

Following the departure of Kyle Howarth after eight years at Owlerton, Tru7 Group Tigers team boss Simon Stead has entered discussions to finalise their next skipper.

He said: “It’s obviously something we haven’t had to think about for a number of seasons now.

“But with Kyle moving on, now is the time we have to identify a new captain and a new leader of Sheffield Speedway.

“There are obviously a number of standout candidates and we’ll be delivering the news first hand to the supporters who attend the additional STAARS meeting next week.”

The announcement will be followed by a special Speedway theme Race Night where supporters will be asked to join teams as they build up points over 15 heats.

The full format will be revealed on the night and even though entry is free, there will be prizes up for grabs.
