SHEFFIELD suffered their first home league loss of the season with Leicester winning a tight contest 48-42 at Owlerton.
It was a result which ensured the visitors maintained their 100 per cent record against the Tru7 Group Tigers this term as they secured their second victory in South Yorkshire in a month following their Premiership Knockout Cup Semi-Final win in June.
This fixture opened with five straight 4-2s, but with three of those going the way of the Lions, it was the visitors who edged ahead by two points.
A hat-trick of 3-3s followed before Leicester came up with a crucial 5-1 in Heat Nine to extend their lead to six points.
Sheffield won four of the final six races, but they all finished as shared heats with the Tigers unable to claw their way back.
The result sees Sheffield drop to fourth place in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership - but most importantly, they are 12 points clear of fifth placed King’s Lynn who sit outside the play-off positions.
The Tru7 Group Tigers are next in action at Birmingham on Monday, August 4 (7.30pm) with the next fixture at Owlerton a week later (Monday, August 11, 7.30pm) against Belle Vue.
