TIGERS AIM FOR CLOSE CALL ON ISLAND

Tuesday October 07, 2008
SHEFFELD Tigers are hoping to give themselves a chance to progress in the Jack Young Shield when they go to the Isle of Wight tonight (7.30pm).

Eric Boocock’s side cross the Solent looking to keep the first leg score as close as possible before the return leg at Owlerton Stadium on Thursday.

And skipper Andre Compton reckons it’s a good chance for the club to give their loyal fans something to cheer after a tough season.

He said: “This is our chance to make up for what has been a disappointing season by our own standards. We expected more from ourselves, including me, and hopefully we can end the season on a high by winning a trophy.”

The Sheffield Window Centre-backed outfit are unchanged with Ricky Ashworth still out suffering from a broken scaphoid.

Thursday’s return leg will be sponsored by Royal Bank of Scotland with plenty of RBS guests enjoying the Owlerton corporate facilities.

ISLE OF WIGHT: Jason Bunyan, Cory Gathercole, Krsysztof Stojanowski, Paul Fry, Glen Phllips, Andrew Bargh, Richard Sweetman.
SHEFFIELD: Ricky Ashworth R/R, Joel Parsons, Andre Compton, Paul Cooper, Ben Wilson, David Speight, Lee Smethills.
