WORLD STARS CONFIRMED FOR OZCHEM CLASSIC

Thursday February 12, 2009
JASON Crump and Greg Hancock, two of the greatest speedway riders of the modern era, will ride in Sheffield’s opening meeting of the season on March 15 (6pm).

The Ozchem Classic will be a special team event between Europe and a Rest of the World side.

Cash will be raised for young Jack Boocock, the son of the club’s close friends Darren and Sharon Boocock who were tragically killed in a road accident last July.

Other star names to appear include British golden boy Tai Woffinden, who is preparing for his debut Elite League season with Wolves, Coventry ace Rory Schlein and new Somerset signing Steve Johnston.

It’s also been confirmed that former Tigers skipper Andre Compton has shelved his retirement plans to appear in the event along with new captain Ricky Ashworth and youngster Josh Auty.

Berwick’s new star signing William Lawson has also pledged his support to what promises to be an entertaining event.

Sheffield owner Neil Machin said: “It’s not very often we see world champions around Owlerton, so to see two in Hancock and Crump in one meeting will be a real treat.”
Admission prices have been confirmed at £15 adults, £10 OAPs and £5 children under-16.
