BUMPER TURNOUT PREDICTED FOR SUNDAY

Saturday March 14, 2009
SHEFFIELD Speedway bosses are urging fans to arrive early for the launch of the new season at Owlerton on Sunday (6pm).

A host of international stars will do battle in the Ozchem Classic, a special event celebrating the 80th anniversary of the club and the memory of the club's close friends Darren and Sharon Boocock.

Former world champions Jason Crump and Greg Hancock are top of the bill and will be making a rare appearance on a British track as both are missing out on domestic racing this year to focus on their bid for another world title.

It's a mouthwatering line-up which is sure to attract a bumper crowd for the 13-heat team event followed by a rider of the night individual battle.

Sheffield owner Neil Machin said: "As a club this is a very proud moment for us. It's not often we can welcome two former world champions and as far as I'm concerned it's a fitting way for us to launch our 80th anniversary and remember our close friends Darren and Sharon."

Admission prices for Sunday are: £15 adults, £10 OAPs and £5 children under-16. A special souvenir programme will also be available.

SHEFFIELD OZCHEM LEGENDS: Ricky Ashworth, Josh Auty, Andre Compton, Steve Johnston, Rory Schlein, Carl Stonehewer, Tai Woffinden.
REST OF THE WORLD: Jason Crump, Greg Hancock, William Lawson, Travis McGowan, Sebastian Ulamek, Ricky Wells, Karol Zabik.
