SHEFFIELD v BERWICK PREVIEW - THURSDAY

Wednesday May 20, 2009
SHEFFIELD Tigers make a welcome return to Owlerton Stadium on Thursday with Berwick the visitors in a Premier Trophy clash (7.45).

It’s the first home meeting in three weeks for Eric Boocock’s men who will be without the injured Ritchie Hawkins.

Hawkins crashed when the sides met at the border track on Saturday when the meeting was abandoned due to the time curfew – with the Sheffield Window Centre-backed side narrowly ahead.

Sheffield owner Neil Machin said: "A win there could just have turned our season around as we get ready for the league fixtures.

"But we will try to battle back, starting when the Bandits come to Owlerton this Thursday.
"Our thanks go to Berwick for agreeing to come at such short notice after last week's meeting was rained off."

Berwick are under new management this season and there is a fresh wave of confidence at the club. Tigers know they simply cannot afford another home defeat after slipping up against Glasgow and Redcar.

SHEFFIELD: Ricky Ashworth, Paul Cooper, Ritchie Hawkins R/R, Joel Parsons, Richard Hall, Chris Mills, Josh Auty.
BERWICK: William Lawson, Tero Aarnio, Paul Clews, Josef Franc, Michal Makovsky, Greg Blair, Gugliemo Franchetti.
