RICKY Ashworth broke the Owlerton track record and romped to a maximum in Sheffield’s 62-33 Premier Trophy win over Berwick on Thursday.

The Tigers skipper set a new best of 59.2 seconds as the Bandits were crushed in a solid all-round team performance.

Sheffield opened with four 5-1s inside the first six heats to open up a 28-8 lead and blow away the memory of their defeat last time out at home against Glasgow.

On a night of tremendous racing, Ashworth was untouchable, including a breathtaking pass of Berwick's Josef Franc in the final race, while Joel Parsons put his recent troubles behind him to notch three race wins in his paid 15.

His tally included a magnificent win over Michal Makovsky in heat 9, when the Czech rider burst from thirs to first only for Parsons to barge back into the lead on the last lap.

TIGERS: R. Ashworth 15, J. Parsons 14+1, R. Hall 10+1, P. Cooper 9+1, J. Auty 8+3, C. Mills 6+2.
BERWICK: J. Franc 13, M. Makovsky 7, T. Aarnio 5, P. Clews 3, G. Franchetti 2, W. Lawson 2, G. Blair 1.
