SHEFFIELD v EDINBURGH PREVIEW - THURSDAY

Wednesday May 27, 2009
SHEFFIELD skipper Ricky Ashworth is promising Edinburgh a real scrap to defend their 28-point Knockout Cup lead at Owlerton on Thursday (7.45).

Ashworth, who broke the track record on the fastest circuit in the country last week, feels his side have what it takes to complete a remarkable recovery.

He said: “If we can ride like we did against Berwick last week then we can turn it round. It’s going to be a real scrap.”

Tigers continue with Josh Auty at reserve and his points could prove decisive to the final outcome.

They will again operate the rider replacement facility for broken-wrist victim Ritchie Hawkins.

Edinburgh are the reigning Premier League champions and have kept several key riders from their championship season including revitalised American Ryan Fisher, local lad Andrew Tully and highly rated Swede Thomas H Jonasson.

SHEFFIELD: Ricky Ashworth, Joel Parsons, Paul Cooper, Richard Hall, Ritchie Hawkins r/r, Chris Mills, Josh Auty.
EDINBURGH: Ryan Fisher, Matthew Wethers, Andrew Tully, Michal Rajkowski, Thomas H Jonasson, Aaron Summers, Sean Stoddart.
