SHEFFIELD v BIRMINGHAM - PREVIEW

Wednesday July 01, 2009
SHEFFIELD face Birmingham at Owlerton on Thursday evening and expect one of the toughest home meetings of the season so far.

The Brummies struggled in their Premier Trophy matches, but following a couple of team changes have made a good start to their Premier League campaign.

The Midland club currently lie in fourth place in the table and having won at Owlerton last season, they will arrive in Yorkshire full of confidence.

The Tigers will be looking to take maximum points from the fixture as they plan their own rise up the league table, but they won’t be taking anything for granted against the ever-improving Brummies.

Sheffield co-promoter David Hoggart said: “Birmingham always give us a hard time at Owlerton.

“They ride the track very well and with Jason Lyons and Tomasz Piszcz still celebrating their Premier League Pairs win, the racing will be top notch.”

Tigers reshuffle their team for the meeting, with Joel Parsons moving back into the main body of the team and Chris Mills dropping to reserve.

Skipper Ricky Ashworth has declared himself fit despite bruising ribs in a fall two weeks ago and then further aggravating the injury at the weekend.

Hoggart added: "He was feeling pretty bashed up last week and then had another two falls at Newport on Sunday. He wants to ride and we do need his scoring power.”

SHEFFIELD: Ricky Ashworth, Hugh Skidmore, Joel Parsons, Richard Hall Josh Auty, Paul Cooper, Chris Mills

BIRMINGHAM: Tomasz Piszcz , Manuel Hauzinger, Robert Ksiezak, Ludvig Lindgren, Jason Lyons, Luke Priest, Richard Sweetman
