THE ROCKETS ARE IN TOWN - THURSDAY PREVIEW

Wednesday July 29, 2009
SHEFFIELD will be eager to get back on track when they entertain Rye House at Owlerton on Thursday night (7.45pm).

The Tigers had their scheduled meeting at Newport on Sunday rained-off and had initially targeted a win at the Welsh track. They will now be hoping they can continue their rise up the Premier League table following tomorrow’s visit from the Rockets.

The Hertfordshire club, however, are flying high again in fourth place in the league standings and will provide tough opposition for the ever-improving Tigers.

Sheffield chief Neil Machin said: “We know that the Rockets are capable of coming here and winning and we need to keep up our form.

“We can’t afford one slip if we are to close in on the leaders King’s Lynn, but there is a terrific enthusiasm in the camp right now and all the riders are determined.”

Rye House’s Andrew Silver returns to Owlerton for the first time in over a decade, having made a comeback from retirement at the age of 42 and they also track Swedish star Linus Sundstrom, who incidentally turned down a move to Sheffield during the winter.

Contract talks were held with the teenager, but he opted to join the Rockets because the track is close to Stansted Airport - cutting down the travel time to his Swedish home.

SHEFFIELD: Ricky Ashworth, Hugh Skidmore, Joel Parsons, Richard Hall, Josh Auty, Paul Cooper, Chris Mills.

RYE HOUSE: Chris Neath, Luke Bowen, Linus Sundstrom, Joe Haines (rider replacement), Robert Mear, Tommy Allen, Andrew Silver.
