TIGERS HEAD TO THE POTTERIES

Friday July 31, 2009
SHEFFIELD continue their Premier League campaign with a short journey to Stoke on Saturday evening (7.30pm).

The Tigers head to the Potteries in good spirits following their recent run of results and will be looking for more points as they bid to improve on their third place position in the league table.

The Potters, who are unbeaten at home in the league this season, will provide tough opposition, but Sheffield have found their Loomer Road track a happy hunting ground in the past.

Stoke will be giving debuts to their recent new signings, Robert Ksiezak and Craig Branney and although the Tigers will track their regular seven riders, the new August averages will see Aussie star Hugh Skidmore drop down to the reserve berth.

The 18-year-old has quickly become a fans’ favourite at Owlerton and was in superb form scoring an 11+1 paid-maximum in last night’s home demolition of against Rye House.

Sheffield boss Neil Machin said: “It could be good news for us because Hugh should do very well against lesser opposition riders.

“Hugh and Paul (Cooper) will give us plenty of options at reserve and it could be just the ticket as we get ready for a busy August period which is likely to determine our credentials of title challengers.”

STOKE: Jason Bunyan, Jesper Kristiansen, Klaus Jakobsen, Lee Complin, Robert Ksiezak, Craig Branney, Tom P Madsen

SHEFFIELD: Ricky Ashworth, Chris Mills, Joel Parsons, Richard Hall, Josh Auty, Hugh Skidmore, Paul Cooper.
