COMPTON RUN GOES ON

Wednesday March 21, 2007
TIGERS skipper Andre Compton continued his magnificent start to the season by taking victory in the Alan Hunt Memorial Trophy - the inaugural meeting to be staged at Birmingham's Perry Barr circuit.

Compton maintained his unbeaten record this season by romping to five straight wins as he finished a full three points clear of the second placed rider.

His only alarm came when he was out-trapped by home rider Aidan Collins in Heat 15, and as Compton went through on the inside Collins crashed on the first bend.

Referee Chris Durno excluded Collins and with Compton's closest rival at the time Magnus Zetterstrom dropping points, he only needed second place from his last ride to be sure of the title.

In the event, Compton won Heat 20 as well and was joined on the podium by James Wright and Craig Watson.
