HALL TAKES IT TO THE MAX IN OWLERTON THRILLER

Thursday August 20, 2009
SHEFFIELD Tigers kept their top three Premier League hopes alive with a spectacular 51-39 win over Glasgow at Owlerton on Thursday.

Richard Hall (PICTURED) pulled off a sensational 15-point maximum for the second successive week to inspire a late rally for Eric Boocock’s men which gave the scoreline a slightly flattering appearance.

Once again the standard of entertainment was top notch for a big crowd gripped by a close contest for the majority of the meeting.

William Lawson, Shane Parker and James Grieves were all posing problems for Sheffield and a repeat of Glasgow’s stunning Premier Trophy win on the big Owlerton bowl back in April looked possible until the last few races.

Heat 13 was decisive as skipper Ricky Ashworth pulled off the ride of the night and he was joined by youngster Josh Auty who somehow managed to hold off Parker in magnificent style to bring the house down. Tigers were six-points up for the first time in the meeting.

Victory was secured by Richard Hall and Smith in the next who secured a 4-2 over Davey – and Hall and Ashworth rounded the night off in style with a 5-1 to bag all three league points on the table.

SHEFFIELD: Richard Hall 15, Ricky Ashworth 12+1, Hugh Skidmore 8+1, Josh Auty 7+2, Scott Smith 6+2, Joel Parsons 2+1, Chris Mills 1+1.
GLASGOW: William Lawson 11, Shane Parker 9, James Grieves 7+1, Mitchell Davey 7, Josh Grajczonek 3, Sandi Conda 2+2, Lee Dicken 0.
