TIGERS V SOMERSET, THURSDAY - PREVIEW

Wednesday September 09, 2009
SHEFFIELD Speedway owner Neil Machin is predicting an exciting night of action when Somerset visit Owlerton on Thursday (7.45).

And Machin is urging his side to put things right after picking up only one point from their last three outings.

“This has the makings of a superb night of racing,” said Machin. “The weather forecast is excellent and I’m sure the track will be superb.

“Somerset have some very fast riders and I’m sure our boys will be fired up – so everything points to a great meeting.”

Steve Johnston, the Aussie showman who is a popular pundit on Sky Sports these days, has made a superb move into the Premier League with Somerset and returns to Owlerton where he started his career.

Emil Kramer has had some fine meetings around Sheffield – particularly during his time with Hull when the Vikings were in action.

And Cory Gathercole has enjoyed some big scores in the Elite League with Swindon when he’s been doubling up this season. He has been using an engine tuned by Ashley Holloway, the man who provides the power for Grand Prix sensation Emil Sayfutdinov.

TIGERS: Ricky Ashworth, Hugh Skidmore, Joel Parsons, Richard Hall, Josh Auty, Scott Smith, Chris Mills.

SOMERSET: Steve Johnston, Emil Kramer, Cory Gathercole, Simon Walker, Jari Makinen, Justin Sedgmen, Nick Simmons.
