TAYLOR IS TOP GUN

Thursday October 08, 2009
RISING Australian star Taylor Poole won the Top Gun Championship in what proved to be an entertaining evening’s racing at Owlerton.

With the cream of the National League taking centre stage the 17-year-old raced to three heat wins from his four qualifying rides and then took the chequered flag in the grand final.

The Mildenhall rider looked a class act in a meeting which saw passing in every race thanks to the handicap system, with race winners being forced to start 15 metres behind in their next ride.

That meant Poole had to battle his way through plenty of traffic en-route to the final, although he then had it much easier against Buxton riders Ben Taylor and Jade Mudgway and Rye House racer Jamie Courtney.

He won the final race with plenty to spare ahead of Mudgway, with Taylor and Courtney both being forced to retire with engine failures.
