THE teams are being put together for Thursday’s 'big cat' clash at Owlerton between the Sheffield Tigers and Leicester Lions.

Leicester are set to make a full return to track action next season after over a 25-year absence, but in the meantime the Sheffield promotion have invited them to Yorkshire for a specially arranged Challenge fixture.

The hosts will line-up with Ricky Ashworth, Chris Mills, Joel Parsons, Josh Auty, Scott Smith and are waiting on confirmation from James Birkinshaw.

The Lions have declared they will track Sergei Darkin, David Howe, Klaus Jakobsen, Simon Lambert and also subject to confirmation, Nicolai Klindt.

Further names will be added and announced in due course.

Looking ahead to the fixture Sheffield co-promoter David Hoggart said: “We were keen to put this meeting on as it will help the Leicester project gather momentum.

“This includes gaining more local awareness and also letting the local authority know that there is a huge amount of interest backing their decision to allow speedway to return to the city.”
