TIGERS V LEICESTER, THURSDAY - PREVIEW

Wednesday October 14, 2009
SHEFFIELD Speedway will bring the curtain down on the 2009 season with a spectacular night of action at Owlerton on Thursday (7.45).

Not only will the Sheffield Window Centre-backed Tigers face a Leicester Lions side, but the evening will end with a firework spectacular courtesy of West Midlands-based Jubilee Fireworks.

It's the perfect way to head into the long, dark winter months before the tapes rise again on another season of racing next March.

Leicester, who could be on the verge of a full-time return to the sport after closing in 1983, have assembled a top class team.

Wolverhampton's Elite League title winner Nicolai Klindt will ride for the Lions alongside Russian star Sergei Darkin, Leicester-based David Howe and former Sheffield skipper Andre Compton.

Ben Wilson returns to the Tigers side as a replacement for the injured Richard Hall. Wilson has enjoyed an excellent season on loan to Redcar who are showing an interest in buying his contract.

Sheffield owner Neil Machin said: "This is going to be a very tough meeting for us. It will be keenly competitive and the Leicester side will push us all the way. The firework spectacular will be worth watching and our thanks go to Jubilee Fireworks for their support. It's going to be a terrific night."

SHEFFIELD: Ricky Ashworth, Joel Parsons, Chris Mills, Josh Auty, Ben Wilson, Scott Smith, Luke Priest.

LEICESTER: Sergei Darkin, Nicolai Klindt, David Howe, Klaus Jacobsen, Andre Compton, Simon Lambert, Jamie Rodgers.
