TIGERS 55 STOKE 40

Thursday April 22, 2010
SHEFFIELD Tigers are still in with an outside chance of edging into the Premier Trophy Semi-Finals after a 55-40 triumph over Stoke at Owlerton.

Birmingham are certain to win the group but Sheffield are still clinging to the hope of going through as best performing runners-up.

Richard Hall was the top Tiger with 12+1 and he managed to get over an awful crash. The back-to-form Sheffield star escaped serious injury after the Potters’ Andrew Tully lifted on the second bend of the first lap and slammed into him.

Hall’s bike was wrecked and he was taken to the track medical centre by ambulance – only to pick himself up and take his part in the re-run, when he notched a point to take his tally for the night to a chart-topping paid 13.

Tigers were comfortable winners with their biggest threat coming from 16-year-old Aussie Taylor Poole, one of the hottest prospects in the game.

Poole scorched to four wins in his 17 points, including victories from the back against home stars Hall and Ricky Ashworth.

SHEFFIELD 55: Richard Hall 12+1, Josh Auty 9+1, Ricky Ashworth 8, Paul Cooper 7+3, Hugh Skidmore 7+1, Josef Franc 7+1, Arlo Bugeja 5+3

STOKE 40: Taylor Poole 17, Andrew Tully 11+1, James Holder 5, Klaus Jakobsen 3, Michal Rajkowski 2, Ricky Wells 2, Hynek Stichauer 0
